Hey everyone! After my last week's post on failing the #januarychallenge, I thought I needed to change the tone of my blog from sightly depressive into inspirational. So yeah, today is all about mindsets!! Although this topic is present everywhere right now, 2 approaches got my attention in a special way.
My Last Time Mindset
The first approach that I want to talk about is pretty well-known and is usually adopted by adventurers and extreme sportspeople. The whole concept highlights the idea of living like today is your last day OR do things like you're doing it for the last time.
Why should this mindset help you in life?
The majority of people that I know are pretty safe and secured. They have a more or less stable job, a decent shelter, some food to eat and are healthy enough to assume they will wake up tomorrow morning. What they also have are aspirations, dreams, and desires! So why are we all not happy then?
The truth is: we are spoiled and lazy! Spoiled because we are "smart" enough to think we have enough time and we'll live forever. Lazy because why do now when there is tomorrow for that? Or why change now if God created Mondays and New Years Resolution for this?
My last time mindset helps you escape the routine lifestyle and not wait for a "magic" moment to do something. This mindset will brighten up your day-by-day life and inspire to enjoy AND pressure every single thing/activity you do.
My First Time Mindset
The next approach that I want to tackle today is less known than the first one. I actually heard about it last week in Sunny Lenarduzzi's video about Steve Anderson's book "The Bezos Letters: 14 principles to grow your business like Amazon". The whole concept highlights the idea of doing things as if we are just at the beginning of the path: full of enthusiasm and curiosity.
Why should this mindset help you in life?
Think of your first day as work, first class at the university or your first date. What do they have in common? You were most surely excited, maybe even nervous, but mainly you were trying to be the best version of yourself. If we all are so inspired by what we are doing and who we are with, why are we not happy?
The truth is: we get bored and take things for granted. People break up because their partners are not "like they used to be", leave jobs because they "grow out of it" and move to different countries because "at the beginning, it was more exciting".
My first time mindset helps you keep the little fire inside you and be as enthusiastic about what you're doing as if it's day one. It will motivate you to perform at your best, stay curious, learn and develop continuously, and will just help you actually love your life.
Whenever you live like it's your last day on Earth or you approach everything as if you are at the beginning of your path, informing yourself and adopting the right mindset is the keyway to cope with depression, uncertainty and with all day-by-day struggles!
Which one do you like more?
Let's think out loud about it!
